Where We Are: The Mosque
Anima Theatre Company are seeking applications from new and early career writers for a new writing project as part of the Arcola Creative/Disruption Season 2019.
Where We Are will focus on community through place. Built around the idea of sonder (being caught by the feeling that everyone around us has rich, complex interior lives with their own stories, own histories and own futures) the next instalment of this ongoing series is set around the Mosque.
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities but are particularly keen to hear from women who identify as Muslim and those who live or work in Hackney.
You don’t need to be a professional writer to apply. Anima want to hear from those who are interested in non-fiction storytelling, monologue, writers from other disciplines, or those who have always wanted to write for performance but not had the opportunity. Over several months, and under the guidance of Anima, you will draw on the real experience of strangers to create a collaborative play told through the lens of four individuals.
Where We Are will be performed at The Arcola from 25th – 27th February 2019
To apply, please send an expression of interest letter briefly detailing any writing experience you have and why you want to be involved, along with a short sample of your writing (if you have one) to firstname.lastname@example.org
If this is not an appropriate method of application for you please get in touch and tell us how else we might be able to receive your application.
For more information on the project, how the process works, or any other questions you might have please email email@example.com
Deadline for applications is midnight on Sunday 11th November
